Intermediate Fly Tying
The Intermediate Fly Tying class will build upon the skills learned during the Intro to Fly Tying class. We will tie up a variety of dry flies, a few nymphs and soft hackles, and an articulated streamer. Some techniques that will be approached are; parachute dry flies, hackle stackers, perfect soft hackles, comparadun hair wings, loop winged flies, spinning deer hair, and approaches for articulated streamers. In this class we will discuss the design of flies to tackle specific problems and hatches on our Western rivers. The first three nights we will work on instructor-chosen flies that are designed to add new skills into your tying repertoire and the last night will be class choice for the flies that we tie. If you have not taken the Intro to Fly Tying class from Western Rivers Flyfisher we ask that you have been tying for over a year and have mastered tying basics such as whip finishing, dubbing thread, palmering hackle, tying in materials, and working with hair. If you have any questions feel free to ask. This class will retain the fun and relaxed atmosphere of the intro class, while preparing you to become a pro at matching the hatch.
