The Scott Radian fly rod is another of our top selling do it all premium fly rods. From turning over long leaders, to casting in the wind, this rods is a machine. If you haven't cast one, you should.

Until now, you’ve had to choose between a rod with power and line speed, or a rod with touch and feel. But thanks to Scott, those days are over. Fast and Feel have finally come together. So, how’d they do it? They dramatically increased recovery speed with our new ReAct technology. By minimizing energy- sapping vibrations, ReAct creates fast action, high line speed rods with all the nuance and feel of a presentation rod. Now, roll casts to a tricky seam, and short, delicate casts with fine 6X leaders are just as easy as long distance streamer deliveries to the opposite bank. And after the cast, when you need extended fishability, Radian rods give you incredible mending abilities and tippet protection without sacrificing the authoritative hook setting and fish fighting power you expect from a fast action rod. But, it’s more than advanced technology that make the Radian so amazing. Check out the components and workmanship. There isn’t a finer production rod in existence. Features like titanium framed SiC stripping guides, custom reel seats with burled box elder spacers, the very top grade Portuguese cork, and the new patented Universal snake guides from American maker Snake Brand round out the most fully loaded rods to ever grace a rod rack. Each and every Radian is handcrafted start to finish in Montrose, Colorado by anglers who know fly rods.
  • ReAct Technology - Brings together X-Core with a new complex materials and taper system to dramatically increase recovery speed

Scott Radian Fly Rod Review

Scott Fly Rod company has been around the block a time or two and after all these years they still build their fly rods by hand, one at a time in Montrose, Colorado. Like all good rod companies that have been around a while, their rods have staying power. The Scott G Series after decades is still one of fly-fishing more coveted fly rods. It's current formation the G2 continues to carry that legacy, especially for us at Western Rivers Flyfisher, yet when it comes to quicker fly rods we've always felt that other companies built better fast rods. Then along comes the Scott Radian fly rod, and its changed our opinion on Scott's ability to build a well rounded fast rod.

Make no mistake the Scott Radian fly rod is quick. Compared to the Scott S4 series of quick rods in your hand  the Radian is noticeably lighter. Another impression this rods leaves you with is it's feel.   Although the Radian is a fast fly rod,  they have a smoothness and sensitivity to them that has been lacking in many fast rods that are on the market today. Upon casting and fishing these rods, all of us at the shop felt the Radian performed well at a variety of distances. For us, being able to work a line in quite close is important since many of our waters are small to medium in size. The Radian fly rod loads quickly, but still have plenty of backbone to huck it a fair distance if that's what you need to do.

At some point you wonder, especially over the past  decade if fly rod companies can continue to be innovative and improve on fly rods? After fishing the new Scott Radian fly rod the answer is yes they can. The Radian is definitely a rod that aligns itself with the quick family of rods. Although we read all the marketing stuff about rods these days, read the rod reviews, and comparisons, rods are as individual as those who fish with them. If you're looking for a fly rod with some back bone, but with a little softer tip, you should check out the Scott Radian. It's yet another impressive fly rod from the fine folks at Scott Fly Rod Company and by our customers reactions in the short time that they've been out on the market I'd say that we're not alone.
